This basement bar is located inside of Georgiaﾒs Market, a grocery store that was once the site of a gambling parlor in the 1890s. From there, youﾒll make your way to Market Square Park. The public park is surrounded by historic buildings like the Kennedy Bakery Building, which dates back to 1861 and once housed a pharmacy. These buildings are now home to some of Houstonﾒs hottest bars.

La Carafe, the Hearsay Gastro Lounge, and Charbar are some of the bars you might visit during this Houston tour. La Carafe, now located inside Kennedy Bakery, is one of the oldest bars in town. The second-floor balcony offers a beautiful view of the nearby September 11 memorial garden. Youﾒll find Hearsay Gastro Lounge inside what was once a fire-ravaged building; the lounge is known for its huge crystal chandelier that hangs over the dining area. During the day, Charbar is a regular tailor shop. At night, Charbar converts into a bar complete with pool tables and a jukebox; you can get your shoes shined while you sip your drink!
